After what has been a very wet and cold winter with record amounts of rain fall, we are at last starting to see signs of Spring. The nights are shorter and the mornings are certainly now a little bit warmer. Working at Kenton Eco Estate during this time of year is an absolute pleasure. The pastures are green,  the trees and plants are blooming, and observing the newborns is most special. Several new born Bushbuck have recently been sighted as well as a few Impala. The KEE animals in general are all very healthy and seem to be thriving regardless of recent building activity.

New Homes Making Good Progress

Currently there are 2 new homes under construction at Kenton Eco Estate and both are really starting to take shape. We are very fortunate that the builders employed to build KEE homes thus far (Kwaaihoek Bouers and CM Heunis) have been very accommodating and sympathetic to the sensitive nature of our eco environment. The sites are clean, well managed and communication between the contractors and estate management has been excellent. We look forward to seeing the completion of these superb new homes very soon and welcoming the new families.

The security at Kenton Eco Estate, has for the past 3 years been entrusted to the locally based company Hi Tec Security. Hi Tec have offices in Grahamstown and Kenton on Sea. The security guards who operate from the KEE gatehouse are managed by Geoff Fondini. Geoff  has several years experience having served with the SAPS as well as over 15 years working for Hi Tec. The security staff routinely patrol the streets and estate perimeter fence on an all terrain vehicle and monitor the various cameras from the gatehouse. Hi Tec’s tactical armed response unit has a reaction time of approx 7 minutes should there be an incident requiring armed response backup. To date we are extremely pleased to announce that we have not experienced any criminal activity on the estate. Measures are being taken to improve our systems and upgrade equipment where required in order to minimise any possible criminal activity in future. Should you wish to discuss any security related issues please contact Geoff at the KEE Gatehouse 046 648 1031.

Estate Activity

Besides our routine maintenance schedule covering the Kenton Eco Estates infrastructure, the Kenton Eco Estate rangers have been hard at work on various other estate projects including:

  • Painting fire hydrants to make them more visible and attractive
  • Making and painting new peg markers for water connections for every erf
  • Removing 10 bakkie loads of  invader weeds
  • Sanding down and painting all metal work on the landrover and golf cart
  • Clearing the perimeter fence along the R72 of any branches or twigs that might interefere with the electric fence.

Sewerage Maintenance Contract Proposed

We are currently negotiating a quarterly maintenance contract with a qualified engineer. This is  to ensure that the estates sewerage pumps and treatment works are maintained to the highest standard. The preventative maintenance measures proposed will ensure that our valuable and essential equipment will continue to operate as intended and help prolong the life span of components.

Property Sales

Currently the banks strict lending criteria on vacant land purchases has drastically reduced the number of sales across the country, But we are pleased to say that Pam Golding Properties has recently sold a plot in Village 1.  There is evidence to suggest that a growing number of cash investors are not content with the current low interest rates offered by the Banks, and are now actively investigating opportunities to capitalise on well priced properties. Several potential investors have passed through the estate over the past few weeks and have left suitably impressed. Kenton Eco Estate’s lifestyle benefits, quality of infrastructure, and value proposition coupled with the impressive new homes on the estate, are having a positive impact on confidence levels. Marketing activities will be increased over the Christmas season which we are confident will lead to more positive feedback and potential sales.

Talk to us

If you have visited the estate recently please let us know if there is anything we can do in order to improve. We are here to assist our property owners and welcome any thoughts / suggestions or project ideas which you feel would be of benefit the estate.
